3D Printing

3D Printing

We provide a wide range of 3D printing and manufacturing of components and assemblies. We are partnered with Stratasys, the worldwide leader in 3D Printing Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) technology.

3D Printing, also known as Direct Digital Manufacturing (DDM), is a process which complements traditional subtractive manufacturing processes. By enabling our customer to produce prototypes, tools and final parts directly from CAD data, digital manufacturing fosters dramatic reductions in delivery times and production costs while improving overall product quality.

In FDM 3D printing, layers of different thermoplastic polymer are extruded and built up into highly accurate complex structures. A secondary material may also be used to support overhang and voids during the manufacturing process. This support material is removed after the final product is finished.

SCHIVO uses Stratasys Production Series Fortus 400 and Fortus 900 FDM printers. 12 different types of materials can be used in the Fortus Production Systems, including the next generation of Stratasys ULTEM polymers.

We are also partnered with Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) South East Applied Materials (SEAM) Centre which has an EOSINT M280 Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) metal 3D Printing machine. 3D DMLS is ideal for such sectors as aerospace, medical and industrial end use. The benefits include cost reduction, lightweight design and tool-less production.

SCHIVO also offers other 3D printing technologies such as Polyjet, Laser Sintering and Stereolithography/SLA. Our production offer is extended by the addition of Urethane Casting. We also offer a range of post-processing and finishing options.
